GPOYW ‘On what’s next …’ edition
It all started when I was living in LA, working on getting A Drink with Dave launched, and my only desire other than launching the show, was to pack up my car and drive around the US. I had just left an incredible group of folks, and really couldn’t see finding a good fit anytime soon—especially in the same field I was working in.
So that’s what I did, spending the next 4 months traveling and figuring out what life had in store for me next.
Over the same 4 months, I’ve gotten to know the partners at an agency in Brooklyn really well. When Jen introduced me to Carrot’s President Mike, I knew I had found someone that saw eye to eye with me on the future of the space. That said, the first time we met—the opportunity to work together wasn’t clear—one thing was however, we had a blast talking about business and life and really wanted to find a way to create a new way for companies to work within the social space.
During that time things have changed dramatically. I’ve realized that people are what inspire me—first and foremost. From there, finding the right team became the key element to my growth in the immediate future. The hard part was realizing that as much as I love, and will always love LA, its an incredibly tough place to really figure out what you want to do. Its a great place to find yourself, and terrific once you know what you want to do with your life, what to specialize in, and focus your youth mastering; but if you’re not at the stage yet (SPOILER: I’m not), its incredibly tough to really excel.
That’s why living in NYC and working for Carrot has created the most exciting opportunity I could have ever imagined. The team, the location, the space … its all exactly what I want and more than I could ever need. I can’t thank my friends and family enough for their tireless support, and hope everyone in LA knows I’ll miss them terribly. This wasn’t a grass is greener scenario—this was simply what was right for me—right now.

Hello from Berlin and Sankt Oberholz!
After a fantastic coffee with Sabine and her little one (adorable) Brandon and I attempted to get into a posh Asian tapas restaurant (Sabine! The wait was hours :-/) and from there headed to a CCCP bar with no avail (they open at 20:00) so here we wait … and drink.
I’m pretty sure Sankt Oberholz is a Berlin version of the ACE.
So far this conference has been INSANITY … I won’t get into many of the details, but its safe to say you’ll see me and my friends visiting the South Pacific, the South of France and South Africa (weird coincidences) over the coming months.
How’s your day? What did I miss in the states?
Hello from Zurich, Switzerland … spending the afternoon here walking up and down the lake, working from cafes, and talking with swans.
Been a wild couple weeks of travel, but other than a pair of crushed Persol’s compliments of the Jetblue flight team I’m doing ok.
If you’re in Berlin this week or NYC this Friday (it’s my birthday) say hi! I’d love to meet up.
Next stop: Berlin
Moar coffee plz (Taken with Instagram at The Oaks Gourmet)
Fell asleep beneath the stars
High on shishkabobs and life
Drake played, waves crashed, and everything was right.
