Without a doubt the Conneticut countryside is the setting she would’ve wanted. When I was with her earlier this last week, it was all she could talk about. As the river runs past her bedside window and the Winter slowly rocks itself to sleep, she left us, and I know it was as she would’ve wanted it. Her favorite season was the fall and her favorite place to spend it in was Conneticut. She was raised in Danielson and she’ll be put to rest there too. After cancer tried for the better part of 18 years to best her, it finally won this last Monday morning. She never complained - not once - and more importantly she never took the time we had together as a family or one on one for granted. She did it on her terms saying bye to her family here and holding off for us to fly in from Florida. 3 tickets to Providence, quite fitting. The dignity and grace she exuded in her final moments was amazing. 53 was too young but it was time. As much peace as I can make with death, the root of our pain is living without her. I will miss her terribly.
