THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING THE BARBARY WARS.
I kept thinking this exact same thing everytime I saw the graph w/ Obama.
Not that its a well known chapter in US history, but the Barbary wars and financial sacrifices we made were a big deal both home and abroad. They also shaped a lot of our international relations through the turn of the century.
