notes from the getty 8/18/2007:
i went to the getty yesterday for the umpteenth thyme … in as many months.
here are some notes from that trip:
The getty is packed. I haven’t seen it this packed before. We drove two miles south to an overflow lot only to board a shuttle to hear employees say: “they’re still sending people?”
Why can’t organizations with volunteers and entry level staff be just as nimble as businesses?
Ryan’s trip has been great - he’s got a gift for running numbers and making sense of businesses. I hope we can work together in the future. His work combined with our new staff analyzing our business has yielded some serious fruit in terms of focus and new prospects.
There are good things to come in business.
I feel that orange county has made me soft. It’s frustrating. I would love to move to LA but I’m not sure its practical. With each visit though it makes more and more sense.
I really want to grow in a couple areas living in LA would facilitate: music and improv.
I’m going to look into taking classes at the groundlings. While other improvs have produced great folks of late, they produced a batch of comedians in the early 90s that really influenced by style and taste.
When you park at the overflow lot they shuttle you direct to the getty - no train in other words. Damn I always felt like I was in a bond movie when I was in one of those. Good news though. You don’t pay for parking.
