Oh How We've All Grown

Its such an odd feeling looking back at your RSS feeds from over FOUR YEARS AGO.  It brings back memories of trading emails with bloggers that didn’t really know what they were doing but were passionate about x, y, or z.

I’m glad I decided not to blog for a living … it seems that even those with great success are owned by the non-stop need for newer, more relevant, more over the top information.

Its a rat race that would’ve surely consumed my soul.

I had a great meeting yesterday with a news aggregation site that wanted my take on how to partner with some of the larger folks in their niche’.  I told them point blank:

“Find out what they’re (the larger folks) not doing and do it better.  Immediately.  They’ll come to you soon enough.”

I’m proud of the web and its ability, sometimes in earnest, to be efficient rather than repeat itself 4 or 5 times over.  Traditional media outlets tend to reinvent the wheel a great deal - their influence and acquisition trends in the web say as much.  For the most part the web will partner or acquire its way up.

That says a lot about how far its come in a short amount of time.  I’m not giving up on the web just yet.  That said its still got some growing up to do, and plenty of room to do it.
