Sun Kil Moon - Carry Me Ohio
For me. Lately. Its been great to be excited for other people in my life.
Friends that have creative projects taking shape, helping others reach a goal they’ve felt was impossible, and more and more seeing those you love find people (or build a life) they love. When I see pure euphoria flush the faces of people who find love - the same people that support and love me - my twinges of self doubt are silenced. Nothing reassures you like being in the presence of deep, real, and enduring love.
And while I do not have Love in a sense of companionship this year, I have love without bounds through the friendship of others - some of whom I’ve never met - some of whom I can’t go a day without talking to. Its in these spaces that I find peace and assurance that I am doing exactly what I’m supposed to - that I am exactly where I need to be.
Am I thrilled for the opportunities in my life? Absolutely.
Am I excited for all the great people I’m getting to work with? Without a doubt.
If love is the greatest hope and the adhesive that bonds us together in ways even the brightest troubadours can’t project - then days like today should be spent enjoying the very fact that we can - indeed love. Celebrated in ways - simple and true.
I argue Love is what makes us different, it’s why we take back people we shouldn’t and why we love them more than we’re supposed to. We do this because we hope and pray, that one day should the tables turn and we’re the one in need - someone will be there to love us the same way we’ve loved others.
For me, this is a powerful realization to digest on a day like this.
