Tonight Eric played a sold out show at the Hotel Cafe.
He was accompanied by a bassist and drummer. He alternated on guitar and piano.
He killed it. Knocking the standards off his breakout album Sounds Like This out of the park.
Being one of the only 4 or so people dancing to the music didn’t stop me one bit. The beat was infectious and his band was tight.
He’s a great entertainer and the “industry-types” in the crowd agreed.
Not sure if tomorrow’s show is sold out - but it’s worth the $12 admission.
He’ll be playing shows to crows much larger then tonight’s 70 odd hipsters in no time.
He played a new song called “lisa.” I especially liked his side story, it went something like this:
“you know when you feel like you’re having to carry all the weight in a friendship? you’re always the one calling, texting, writing, it’s almost like if you don’t call - they wouldn’t reach out at all. i think we all have people like that in our lives … and well, if you don’t, then you’re probably the person who isn’t carrying the weight.”
Oh snap!
