jared m just posted the item below. the irony that struck me driving home from LAX along the coast was that while the ash and smoke ruined the air - the off shore breeze that helped the fire spread in fact DID create some amazing sets of waves. in orange county i did see some guys surfing pretty blown out - but very large waves. it was decidedly nicer there than malibu however.
